, another way to do this is to picture the body and abilities that you want and set up a plan from there. So on the pic to the right, which IS best? The answer is: it depends on you and your goals. To get to be a top sprinter or a top marathoner you need to take largely different paths. The same is true for a bodybuilder or strongman or MMA fighter. I have to imagine a lot of people will say they want to be "toned." That's a popular term but what does it mean? It probably means different things to different people--but I'll take a risk and generalize.
General goals that you could try for might look like this:
- Bench press your weight 10 times
- Run a mile in under 8 minutes (or less!)
- Squat 1.5x your bodyweight 10 times
- Do 100 crunches in a row
- Do 25 pushups
- Bodyfat percentage of 10% for men, 15% for women
