Today while my daughter was eating her Cheerios, I noticed that the box had nutrition allowances for children under 4. This is probably because Cheerios are some of the first solid foods that babies eat but it made me think of general kid nutrition.
Often as adults we try to watch what we eat but we compromise on what our kids eat in favor of things they will eat-like chicken fingers and fries. Don't get me wrong, there is a place for this type of food as kids metabolism is a lot more forgiving than that of adults, but we need to be careful as parents.
It's important to get healthy foods in front of your kids and get them used to eating fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. Take a look at this article on some tips to encourage your kids to eat this way.
The bottom line is that you as a parent or adult role model need to instill a healthy lifestyle for the children in your life. Don't let these kids become part of the epidemic of obesity that is becoming more of a problem than world hunger.
